We had a great day celebrating the holidays together in our PJ's with cookie decorating and hot coco! We had many friends out and they were missed!
We had "SNOW" much fun on our first snowy day in school! In Math Centers we have been practicing our numbers by playing different games. Monster Squeeze was a big hit! One student choses a secret number and the others had to try to figure out which number it was by asking if its greater or less than. It was incredible to hear them use their math language. I sent home a copy of monster squeeze so they could play at home. Another game was played with number cards and a student would remove one card and the partner needed to figure out hat card was missing. There was another game where students rolled dice (some had 10 sides) or spinners and counted that number of cubes into a cup. Once the cup was filled they need to count the number of cubes. They used the strategy of building 10 bars to help counting. Shapes have been another focus. We used attribute blocks to talk about how shapes were similar and different and practiced sorting them by size, thickness, color, shape, sides and vertices. In Motor Centers we continue to work on Fine and Gross Motor Skills! Last week we played many games- Pancake Pill Up, I Spy Dig In and Noodle Knockout. This week we made snowflakes, use tweezers to place beans on letters and Cat In the Hat- I can Do That game! Thank you to our parent volunteers! World MapsWe enjoyed listen to a song about the 7 Continents and colored them in on our world as we begin to learn about different holidays celebrated around the world. Reading CentersWe have been working hard on our 7 sight words (I, the, like, and, we see, a) and enjoy finding them in our leveled readers each week. Sentence scramble is a great way to learn about capitals at the beginning of a sentences and a period at the end. Learning about hibernating animals this week was a lot of fun! Math GamesThis week we enjoyed a variety of games while we practiced counting, coding and other basic math skills while playing Chutes and Ladders, Robot Turtles, My Path and Number Pop.
